Vice President, Clinical Strategy and Programs, Blue Shield of California

Dr. Jennifer Christian-Herman is the Vice President of Clinical Strategy and Programs at Blue Shield of California, a nonprofit health plan serving nearly 6 million members. In this role, Dr. Christian-Herman leads an evolving portfolio of innovations focused on lifestyle medicine, behavioral health, complex care management, specialized care, social drivers of health, and digital therapeutics, with a goal of improving member engagement and clinical outcomes.

She is responsible for developing and leading strategies to transform total-person health for Blue Shield’s members and providers by expanding access to behavioral health care, specialized care programs and complex care management. She serves as a thought leader with integrating behavioral health into primary care, and offering robust digital solutions rooted in lifestyle medicine.

Prior to joining Blue Shield, Dr. Christian-Herman was the Executive Director of Strategic Customer Engagement, Product Innovation and Evaluation at Kaiser Permanente.

Dr. Christian-Herman has a PhD in clinical psychology and is a licensed clinical psychologist.

He previously served as Director of Enterprise Sales for another healthtech start-up, Grand Rounds, Inc., which focuses on improving access to quality care and providing personalized clinical guidance to optimize individual healthcare outcomes.

Earlier, Aaron worked for Humana, UnitedHealthcare, and WellPoint (the predecessor to Anthem), holding a number of employer group health and managed care senior leadership roles including Regional Vice President, Marketing & Product Development and Vice President, CDH Account Management. Additionally, Aaron worked for more than five years as a top national health insurance sales executive at Humana.

Clayton holds a BS in Engineering Management from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, an MIS from the University of Maryland, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
